As expansive as Kings Canyon is in _Apex Legends _ , there are a few prime spots to land in Season 5 and a few to avoid. Some of the more popular locations will be heavily populated so it's up to each player do decide if they want to go up against the competition or avoid the mess, at least for a little while, and stay off to the sides. Each method of play has its rewards and benefits and the drop locations can help to establish those types of plays.

Drop locations will have a small variation depending on where the dropship is entering the area. For example, the ship might be coming by way of the Artillery and then the next game it can start from the Hydro Dam. The important item to note here is that no matter where the ship enters the area, it's important to make decisions quickly as players have probably already dropped and are looting while decisions are being made. Time is of the essence here so let's show some of the best locations and explain why they are the best.

The Artillery Location in Apex Legends

This area is great if it can be gotten quickly. Not only are there a few supply bins inside the two bunker areas but there are also multiple supply bins just on the outside of them. It also has a few small buildings linked to them with more supplies, multiple levels for combat, and has two entrances into the area making escape a bit easier. This is a highly populated area so be ready for a fight when dropping in.

The Market Location in Apex Legends

Another highly-populated area, the Market is a tough one as there are tons of different locations to enter from, including a roof opening where players can get the drop on others firing from unsuspecting players. There is a ton of loot here but it's definitely a riskier area than the Artillery and if dropping here, make sure your skills are up to the task. This location will usually be picked as a secondary alternative for most players if their first pick isn't to their liking for whatever reason making it high on the list for combat locations. If this is the first landing place, a great secondary location to go right after is the Hydro Dam that also has a good number of loot boxes.

The Water Treatment Location in Apex Legends

This area can be either hit or miss with players dropping into it so it's a medium risk when it comes to encountering enemies. This place has a lot of loot crates and most of them are over a large area so be prepared to run. It's on the edge of the map so it tends to be out of the circle pretty quickly so make this location a quick loot and go. It does have a few buildings that are multi-leveled so combat doesn't get too crazy. Watch out for the corridors as going between buildings can have a trapping effect with players lulling others into the corridors and then flanking behind them.

The Slum Lanes Location in Apex Legends

The Slum Lanes can be a bit of a maze to newer players but the good thing about this area is that it can be easy to get lost when meeting up with other players. Unless someone is using Bloodhound or Crypto, this area is easy to get the jump on others and escape if needed. The area has a lot of loot chests here as well but they are spread out and most of the loot is just lying on the floor in each building. Not a lot of players come to this location and is a good place to go if avoidance of the pack is the strategy.

The Gauntlet Location in Apex Legends

The Gauntlet looks strangely familiar to a skate park except it has a ring of fire and a ton of loot. It will be highly populated which means anyone coming into this area definitely needs their A-Game or it's going to be a quick match. There can be a great piece of loot in the fire ring by using the jump pads but the real attraction here is the easy access to multiple supply bins and the ability to move to the next looting locations right after. Most players will end up landing here and then going straight to the Market location right after or the Salvage area. It was designed with Octane in mind and if playing with him, take advantage of the open area and jump pads to speed up and get the drop on the opponents.

The Cage Location in Apex Legends

The Cage is more of a large tower and it is highly populated as well with everyone landing on the topmost part of the tower for the most part. If this is the destination of choice either landing on the top of the tower, expecting a fight, or landing on the outside of it, where there's tons of loot in the small bunkers, avoiding contact, can be a preferred play here. It's one of the rare locations that going into combat is a choice rather than a necessity but in the endgame, being on the top of the tower is where everyone would love to be.

The Pit Location in Apex Legends ranked guide Legends

This tube-like area in Kings Canyon doesn't have too much loot but it's enough for a team of three to get and make due. It's a very good location to drop into as it has three exits all leading to other high loot areas like Slum Lane. This will allow the team to look at which location is under siege and either join in the fight or avoid it altogether. If meeting up with opponents here, there is not a ton of cover so going on the offense and small flanking maneuvers will be valuable tactics here.
