Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
